Project Development Engineer – Energy Solutions

We are an established construction and energy solutions company that recently launched a dedicated Energy Solutions business unit to meet the growing demand for energy efficiency, resiliency, and sustainability services. Although this team is one of the newest within our organization, it is staffed by experienced professionals with decades of success in construction, performance contracting, and energy management. To date, we’ve delivered hundreds of projects that include facility assessments, guaranteed energy savings contracts, hybrid construction solutions, and renewable energy installations that reduce costs and carbon footprints.

We are looking for a Project Development Engineer to join our team and play a key role in advancing our Energy Solutions strategy. Reporting directly to the Director of Project Development – ESCO, this position will directly influence our growth by supporting technical project development and collaborating closely with business development leaders.

What You’ll Do

• Conduct on-site energy audits and field assessments to collect and analyze energy efficiency data

• Inspect HVAC, controls, and lighting systems to evaluate usage patterns and identify savings opportunities

• Design and recommend innovative energy efficiency solutions for clients

• Collaborate with the Business Development team by providing technical guidance and input for proposals

• Document energy conservation measures, including water cost reduction opportunities

• Develop baseline profiles, perform retrofit analysis, and calculate/verif savings

• Prepare technical designs, specifications, bills of quantities, and sequences of operation

• Present technical findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders

• Support project reviews, costing, and risk mitigation

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Energy Engineering (or related field)

• 5+ years of experience in Energy Performance Contracting or Energy Solutions projects

• Strong background in energy auditing and project development

• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

• Strong organizational and analytical capabilities with high attention to detail
